spring & summer 2014 blush picks

spring_summer_2014_blushes So many Spring and Summer round-up posts inspired me to look through my collection. As I’ve said before I don’t really follow seasonal rules for makeup but it is fun to change things up throughout the year. When I think of Spring and Summer blushes these were the ones that came to mind first.
Benefit_milani_blush_openIn the beginning of March I finally found the new Milani Baked Blush colors in 10-Delizioso Pink (bottom left) and 11-Bella Rosa (top middle.) They are gorgeous bright matte blushes! I’ll admit they do look a bit intimidating in the pan but they blend beautifully. And because of their vibrancy they will work on a range of skin tones. I really love Milani Baked Blushes and I would totally recommend them!

The other three blushes are shimmery and perfect for a summer glow. Starting from the top left and working clockwise, Coralista is such a flattering shade. It’s the perfect bright colorful shade when you don’t know which blush to choose. Bella Bamba is a bright watermelon pink with a lot of shimmer. Last but not least is Dandelion, a pale pink and as they call it ‘a highlighting powder.’ On my pale face it shows as blush but it’s definitely more of a pink tone highlighter. Benefit Boxed Powders also smell fantastic! If you are sensitive to scents they might bother you, although you can’t smell them on your face.

What are your favs for Spring/Summer? Do you change what you wear for the seasons? Let me know in the comments!

the beauty scenario tag

Kristen at Every Beauty Talks tagged me to do this fun tag!

You have to get rid of all your foundations and only keep one high-end and one drugstore, which do you keep?
Well considering that I’ve never tried a drugstore foundation and I don’t really have a huge foundation collection this question is an easy one.makeup_forever_HD_foundationI recently bought the MUFE HD Foundation in the shade N110. This is quickly becoming my holy grail. It’s the BEST color match for me that I’ve ever found. Love it!

You go for an interview and the woman interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?
There is no way I’d say anything! Way too awkward for me.

You’re not feeling yourself and you need a pick me up lipstick, which one do you go for?
I would reach for a bold lip! I love how they light up my face.mac_lady_danger_chanel_extatiqueMy two faves right now would be MAC Lady Danger and Chanel Extatique.

You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?
Well for one I’d probably tell my self to not wear so much gloppy lip gloss. I was obsessed with MAC Lip Glass in clear and would wear so much! Also, I loved to wear my hair in a tight high ponytail but have two strands of hair parted down the middle as bangs… No idea why that was popular!

You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut but they hear you wrong and give you a pixie hair cut. Do you a) smile, say thank you, leave, call your mum and cry hysterically b) cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) complain to the manager and demand a refund.
There would be tears for sure. I might cry there or wait until I got home depending on how terrible it looked. There wouldn’t be much that could be done because they couldn’t make it longer. I’m not sure how this would happen though, because I think I would notice when she made the first cut!

Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which ‘do it all’ palette do you pack in your makeup bag?
When packing for a long weekend I’m pretty low maintenance. I care more about skincare and foundation than bringing a lot of eyeshadow options. naked2_paletteI think the UD NAKED2 Palette is a great one to take because you can do super simple day looks and smoky nighttime looks as well!

Your house has been robbed, don’t worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What’s the product you really hope is safe?
My blush and highlighter drawer!blush_highligher_drawerOver half of what’s in here is Limited Edition!

Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) just pretend you haven’t noticed b) ask them to repurchase it or c) secretly do the same to something of theirs.
My friends know that I don’t loan out my makeup… I would let them use it while I was there but I really don’t feel comfortable lending out my stash. I just know accidents happen and I’m very protective of my makeup!

I tag anyone who wants to do it!

a brief pause

roseI started this blog in July of 2013 intending it to be my little place on the internet to share my random interests, my painting, and love of makeup. In October of 2013 I decided to make a separate art blog. So this space became solely about makeup. I love makeup and for the most part I love having a makeup blog, but recently I’ve felt like I’m blogging just to blog. I’m going to take a step back and figure out what I really want.

I want to say thank you to all 122 of you that follow me on Bloglovin’ and the others that follow me elsewhere! Your support means a lot! xx

the very inspiring blogger award

inspiring_blogger_award Thank you so much Rachel for nominating me for this award! The rules are as follows 1. Thank and link the person who nominated you. (Done!) 2. List the rules and display the award.(I’m doing that now…) 3. Share several facts or things about you.(Here goes!)

  • I have a bit of an obsessive personality. When I find something that I like it’s all I think about for a stretch until I get burnt out. Like before I adopted my dog, I spent all of my free time researching dog breads. Now I know a freakish amount about Wheaton Terriers for no real reason…
  • My most current ‘obsession’ is books. For the last two years I didn’t read many novels. But since I found the Booktube community (on YouTube) and a really awesome used bookstore near my house my bookcase is full of books to read. I’m reading my tenth book (A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness) for 2014 which is more than I’ve ever read recreationally in one year let alone three and half months. I don’t see myself slowing down either. If you’re on Goodreads you can check me out here!
  • I really can’t stand the sound of someone chewing a popsicle or frozen fruit. I literally just shivered typing this.
  • I wouldn’t call myself a very tidy person but the inside of my computer is immaculately organized. A messy desktop is one of my pet peeves.
  • I love salsa. We’ve been making fresh salsa once a week and it’s one of my major food groups.
  • I never thought I would like fantasy novels but I recently read Harry Potter for the first time (I just finished Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) and now I’m totally into the genre.

4. Nominate some inspiring bloggers.

I nominate:

Vanessa | Citron + Guavaberry

Kristen | Every Beauty Talks

Katie | Beauty and Katie

Caroline | All About the Girl

Thanks again for the nomination Rachel! PS Don’t forget to follow me on Bloglovin’! Follow on Bloglovin

fotd: mac lady danger

lady_danger_mac_fotdBold lips are a staple in my makeup collection. I feel more comfortable in a red than a nude. MAC Lady Danger is one of my favorites for Spring and Summer. milani_dior_amber_diamonds(MOUSE OVER TO OPEN LIDS)

For lips: MAC Lady Danger is a matte bright orange-y red. I love it!

For cheeks: I’m wearing Benefit Sugarbomb and Dior Amber Diamonds.

For Eyes: I’m wearing MAC Carefree Pro Longwear Eyeshadow on my lid, brow-bone and inner corners. E.l.f. Chocolate Dream Baked Eyeshadow through the crease and lower lash line. For liner I used Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Liner for a precise black line. Then once again I used MAC In Extreme Dimension Mascara.

Have you tried MAC Lady Danger? What’s your favorite red lipstick? Let me know in the comments below!
