I’m alive, I just moved…

Hello to everyone that have stuck around! My lack of posts are not without thought. In fact I’ve haven’t stopped blogging, I just kind of switched into something a bit more authentic. I consider makeup to be an incredible hobby and it’s a joy to put it on everyday. I love trying new products and having conversations with wonderful people across the world.

However maintaining an active ‘beauty blog’ is something I no longer feel comfortable doing. It took away too much time from my true passion, which is art. When I initially started my blogging journey, almost a year ago, I intended on having one blog with both art and makeup. Somewhere along the way I got wrapped up in the beauty community and felt like posting art on this blog would be weird and out-of-place. So, I created Kenzie Covered In Paint as an outlet for my creative side.

At which point I was stretched too thin and neither blog was fun anymore! So after weeks of thinking, I’ve decided to continue on with my ‘art blog‘ and when an amazing makeup or beauty item catches my eye I’ll write about it over there. In fact I have two new products that I can’t wait to talk about!

So if you haven’t already checked out Kenzie Covered in Paint, please give it a look! You can follow it on Bloglovin by clicking the button below!

manicure monday: american apparel poppy

AA_poppy_nail_polish_manicure_monday I didn’t post it, but last week I wore a very pale pink. This week I wanted something a bit bright and cheery.Manicure_monday_american_apperal_poppyAmerican Apparel Poppy is the perfect bright almost orange red. It’s very very similar to Essie’s Come Here but easier to apply. If you’re careful you can get away with one coat!

What are you wearing on your nails? Let me know in the comments below! Hope you all have an awesome week!

april favorites

april_favorites_kenziewoodsThis month I’ve kept my makeup super low maintenance. The weather has been warm and summery so my makeup reflects that.

For Face: Since it’s been so hot at night (where’s Spring? Also sorry if it’s snowing where you live) it’s great to have such a refreshing face mask. The Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque is so cooling but it’s great to clear out pores and take away redness. Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in the shade N110 has blown me away! I love the invisible finish and lightweight feel. The best part is that it matches my skin perfectly! Love this so so much!

For Cheeks: I’ve worn 01 Delizioso Pink Milani Baked Blush almost every day this month. It looks intimidating in the pan but because it’s matte with a natural finish it just gives me the perfect pink flush. It doesn’t hurt that I had a coupon and only paid $3.50 for it!

For Eyes: I have barely worn any eyeshadow this month! When I did bother to put any on I reached for Stila Kitten. It’s an amazingly shimmery, champagne color that just lights up my eyes.

For Lips: e.l.f. Glossy Gloss in Watermelon is a super shiny wash of bright pink. It’s a thick gloss that’s smooth and not sticky but it lasts awhile for a gloss. It could be my imagination but I think it’s moisturizing too.

What were your favorites this month? Let me know in the comments below!

good finds from the library

libraryWith my ‘to-read’ list getting longer and longer and my bookcase filling up with thrifted books, I realized the library is an incredible resource. Right now I’m just finishing up Insurgent book two in the Divergent Series by Veronica Roth. I have loved the fast-paced YA Fantasy genre. Here are the three books I checked out from my local library. I’m looking forward to reading all of them!

I picked up Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier. It’s about a girl who has lived a normal life until she learns of her ancestor’s bizarre history of time travelers. I love anything that has to do with time travel but this will be the first book I’ve read on the subject. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it and at only 330 pages it will be a quick read.

The next one is Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It’s the first book of the Caster Chronicles and I don’t know anything about it! I just loved the cover and I think it has something to do with vampires.

Lastly is Middlesex by Jeffery Eugenides. He’s the author of The Virgin Suicides. This one is a bit harder to summarize, so here’s what Goodreads has to say about it:

“So begins the breathtaking story of Calliope Stephanides and three generations of the Greek-American Stephanides family who travel from a tiny village overlooking Mount Olympus in Asia Minor to Prohibition-era Detroit, witnessing its glory days as the Motor City, and the race riots of 1967, before they move out to the tree-lined streets of suburban Grosse Pointe, Michigan. To understand why Calliope is not like other girls, she has to uncover a guilty family secret and the astonishing genetic history that turns Callie into Cal, one of the most audacious and wondrous narrators in contemporary fiction. Lyrical and thrilling, Middlesex is an exhilarating reinvention of the American epic.”

It sounds incredibly interesting!

Have you read anyone of these? Do you use your library for leisure reading? Also if you have any recommendations please let me know!

new lipstick: chanel extatique

Chanel_Extatique_rouge_allureI would like to welcome this Chanel Exactique Rouge Allure Lipstick to my makeup family. I mentioned it in the Beauty Scenario Tag but it’s just so beautiful it deserves a post all its own. Chanel_Extatique_rouge_allure_fotdIt’s the exact color I’ve been looking for: a bright blue-tone fuchsia. It even has a slight iridescent shimmer. It’s absolutely gorgeous and the packaging feels so luxe. Even though the color is perfect and it’s great to have Chanel in my collection, I don’t think it’s worth the $34. I bought it at Nordstrom with a $20 gift card so it was a little less painful. The texture and quality of the Mac lipsticks are better and at a much lower price. I would say unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket don’t buy it. but ask for it for your birthday or the Holidays. It is quite fun pulling it out of your bag to reapply.

What are your thoughts on high-end lipstick? Do you think it’s worth it? Let me know in the comments!
